Naiya has been begging me to throw her a Harry Potter Birthday Party for years now. And this year, it finally happened. Some of her friends have finally read Harry Potter so she knew all of her plans and decorations wouldn't be lost on them (she only invited friends who had read the books).
We spent a lot of time gathering materials, mostly from around the house, and from the thrift store. Darin's Credit union happened to have saved some decorations from when they decorated the branch Potter style and so we were able to borrow some materials they had printed, and the sorting hat someone had made. They also had a ton of floating candles, but we didn't have a way to hang them so we didn't bother.
Anyway, I'll walk you through the party in pictures. A HUGE thank you to Missy who wasn't planning to stay, but when she saw I needed help jumped right in. We had a power outage the night before the party so I was super behind on preparations, mainly the Horcrux Hunt I procrastinated too long in planning. Thanks Missy for taking pics of the decor since I didn't have a chance!

| Guests arrived at Platform 9 3/4. |
| Into Diagon Alley |
| Gringotts |
| Flourish and Blotts (a little sad, next time we will plan for a better shop) |
| The Marauder's Map. |
| Just some wanted posters. |
| A little Harry Potter display Naiya Put together |
| Honeydukes Sweet Shop (this is in Hogsmead but we included it anyway). |
| Oops, licorice isn't out yet! | . |
| The licorice looked like this (this was a trial run a few days before the party) |
| She didn't want anyone upstairs she she turned it into the forbidden 3rd floor from the Sorcerer's Stone |
| The living room became the Gryffindor Common Room |
| A banner Naiya made. |
| Large banner we borrowed from the credit union. (We had the 3 other houses banners but no where to hang them) | |
| Spiders, from Chamber of Secrets. It says " Why did it have to be follow the spiders? Why couldn't it be follow the butterflies?" |
| House points, with the house cup in the middle, along with some house scarves that Naiya made. |
| A banner she made for the great hall. |
| Sorting Hat is borrowed from the credit union. |
| Naiya spent lots of time gathering items from around the house for different classes she wanted to display. |
| Putting the potions and ingredients together was fun. |
| Charms, wands and floating feathers. |
| Aunt Missy made her this amazing cake! |
| The great feast. Sadly, we ran out of time to make butterbeer and went with rootbeer instead. |
| After the feast they made wands using hot glue and paint. |
| I wanted to sand the wands down to a point at the end but with the power out the sander Darin planned to use wouldn't work. That's what happens when you procrastinate. |
| Listening intently to the instructions for the Horcurx Hunt. |
| Finding clues. |
| Some of the clues required them to solve a puzzle. |
| Some clues contained a curse that someone would have to do. |
| Time for cake! |
| And presents! |
| Before they left, the kids put together a treat box full of Honeydukes candy to take home. |
| After the party she got to open her gifts from us. At the top of her list was her very own Hogwarts Letter. |
After all the crazy fun was over we headed to Olive Garden for dinner per the birthday girl's request.
| She requested cheesecake as her free dessert. |
