This year we celebrated our first Christmas in our new home. Our holiday was quiet and simple and very nice. On Christmas Eve we did a bit of cleaning and took the kids to see the new Muppet movie. Darin treated us to dinner at Applebees and before bed we read the Christmas story in Luke, put out the stockings, milk & cookies, and reindeer food. The kids were SO excited for Santa to come and this is the first year they had a hard time sleeping b/c of it. Calin woke us at 3am b/c he couldn't fall asleep and then Naiya woke too. We sent them back to bed and they finally got some rest. I got up first at 6:30 to start getting ready before the commotion hit so we wouldn't be late for 9:00 church. The kids woke around 7 and the morning played out a bit like this:

We let the kids play for a bit, then gave them a quick bowl of cereal and made it to church early. Sunday school was cancelled, but we had a nice musical sacrament meeting. Afterwards we came home and made a big brunch and let the kids break open their toys.
We had a relaxing afternoon full of toys and games. I think this was our first Christmas without family around. My folks are in
Ohio, Darin's in Nebraska, Missy is spending Christmas in Ohio, and Dan spending it with his
in-laws. We had planned to just have a quiet Christmas, just the 4 of us. But my sister-in-law, Jess, was so sweet to invite us to have Christmas dinner at her parent's home nearby and so we headed over there for a delicious meal and more games. It was still a quiet Christmas, but it was nice to be with family--Dan and Jess, and the Squires, even though they're not technically family. They were so gracious to open their home to us on Christmas when we had no where else to go.
We had a wonderful holiday and were so blessed to have spent it together.

Looks like you all had a great day. Wish our house was bigger so all of you could be here at one time. (not just foe Christmas)
Who got the box of books? If they are yours we might know what you'll be doing when the kids are back in school.

They are the Harry Potter books, for Calin. Though I've wanted them for forever, so we'll be sharing. :) Naiya got a set of educational books that they'll both share. I have a stack of books from the library I was planning to read over break but haven't touched a single one!
