Gymnastics

This year has really gotten away from me. I wanted to post a little bit about Calin's final 2 meets.
His 3rd meet was in Ogden. He did wonderful in all the events except vault. Vault has not been good for him, but his coach couldn't figure out what was going wrong so he asked the judge about it. It wasn't his form on the vault, that was fine, it was the way he was running to the vault that kept docking him. But now that we know, he can work on it. His all around score was 61.3. He scored low in vault but the rest of his scores ranged 10.1-10.7. He did fabulous at this meet and we were so proud of him.
His last meet was the state meet in Boise, He scored well but it wasn't his best meet. He still got 2nd All Around though! He took 2nd to the same boy he took 2nd to at Missy Marlowe. On the drive home he ended up getting sick and we had to stop a few times so he could puke on the side of the road. Poor kid!

6 medals at state, 2 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze.

Calin continues to work hard on his skills year round. He is preparing to start the summer season which means 3  three hour practices a week. It keeps him busy and makes him happy like no other sport has. He is doing great with his strength, but the downside to starting him older is his flexibility is not where it needs to be. He hates it, but I make him stretch every day.
He's been rereading the Harry Potter series, it must be distracting because he forgot to lean into the stretch.

He rocks that high bar, but it isn't so great for his hands.

Ouch!
His coaches were super nice to throw an end-of-the-season sleepover at the gym. The boys had way too much junk food, set up a zipline, and stayed up all night playing capture the flag. We really do have the best coaches and team and we are so blessed for it.

Sounds like he's found his 'niche'. Good for him and his accomplishments. He'll just keep getting better.
