New York

Niagara Falls

This weekend we took a little trip to New York. We started with Niagara Falls on Friday, just the American side though. Shortly after heading into Canada for dinner the kids fizzled out so we had to put them to bed instead of seeing the falls from the much better Canadian view.

Calin was so excited when he recognized this bridge that was on his map.

He loved bed hopping at the hotel

The next morning we checked out a bit more of the American side from the observation tower and then on a trail at the bottom of the falls.

Lockport Cave

Next we headed over to the little town of Lockport to check out the Erie Canal and take a small tour and boatride through an underground cave. The cave was formed by an old hydraulic tunnel that was blasted out of the rock in the 1850's. It was pretty cool except when the kids entertained themselves by throwing rocks in the underground river while the tour guide was talking. I was not very amused.

I was quite surprised to see that this was the entrance to the cave

Calin was first to venture in (brave kid!)!

Notice the ripples....

View from the boat (pics aren't great but what do you expect from a dark cave)?

On the way back to the car we looked back and saw that Naiya was chewing on a stick. She looked like a little redneck toddler :)

Palmyra

The last stop on our trip was Palmyra, the hometown of the LDS prophet, Joseph Smith.

Moroni Monument. Moroni is the ancient prophet who buried the golden plates in the Hill Cumorah.

It was a fun trip. It was a bit stressful with the kids, but we managed. It was nice to get away but it's great to be home.

looks like you had a good time. Sometimes it's good to just get away, eh? Especially before school starts up again.

Love you guys - P. & N.
