New Job!

This post is long overdue but I have some wonderful  news to share. Darin is finally getting a job in Rexburg! We have been praying for this for a long time and we are so thrilled with how things are working out. For quite some time now, his boss has been trying to create a position for him closer to home. He was supposed to find out about this position at the beginning of the year, but as often happens, there are more hoops to jump through than they realized. So here we are 4 months later and everything is finally official. He will become the small business relationship manager and will be the go-to man for local businesses. He'll work to deepen the banks relationship with the business owners and help with their loans and treasury management. To me it sounds like he'll spend a lot of time schmoozing on a golf course, but I'm sure that's not entirely accurate. :)

Some huge blessings are coming out of this new opportunity:
1. His office is technically in Idaho Falls, but he'll work from a desk in Rexburg.
2. From now on, he'll be reimbursed for miles traveled (except to Idaho Falls).
3. He isn't getting a pay cut, which we were worried about.
4. We won't be spending $300 a month on gas anymore.
5. He will be around for breakfast and dinner! And probably for lunch most days, too.
6. The bank will continue to pay for his degree.

He is still working in Driggs for the time being but it's just for the next few weeks while things get situated and positions get filled. He will have a lot on his plate this month since he is now doing both his old job and the new one, and on top of that his classes just started up again. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel and that's the most important thing. I feel like we've been living our lives very separate from each other, his in Driggs and mine in Rexburg, and we just meet at home for bedtime. I know a part of him is sad to leave Driggs, he enjoyed Rotary there, and truly loved being on the Education Foundation Board. He was very involved in that little community and he doesn't have those same ties in Rexburg. But I'm thrilled that he'll be a bigger part of our lives again, and that he won't have to miss out on so many things with the kids because he works so far away.
Please don't think me ungrateful towards our previous situation though. We have been overly blessed that he has had a job, and that he has traveled safely through the last 2 winters. We are thankful that we were able to move to Rexburg and get the kids situated here, they have needed this consistency. I'm thankful that Darin's been able to come home to us every night over these last 20 months. We have already been thoroughly blessed and we are thankful. But we are thankful that our less-than-ideal situation is finally at an end and we are glad to move on to the next phase of our lives. We have no regrets with how things have worked out. We've put our faith in the Lord and though we sometimes feel like we're walking blindly, He's been guiding our footsteps all along.

So happy for you all. Now we will be able to play more because he will have evenings to get things done, not just Saturdays.

You came to realize that you had to be willing to accept the Lord's time table and not be too impatient and now you're being blessed. Congrats to all of you.
